| ||Preston Otte, Head Golf Professional |
Preston Otte was born in the small town of Burley Idaho. Growing up he played many sports thoroughly enjoying the outdoors fishing and hunting with his family. Preston attended Burley High and Utah State University where he double majored in Human Resource Management and Business Management Entrepreneurship. While at Utah State, Preston lettered all four years playing collegiate golf for the University. During school Preston worked at Birch Creek Golf Couse in Smithfield, Utah where he deepened his understanding and experience in the golf business. After Graduation Otte worked in the Utah State Athletic Department as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Ticket Operations for a couple of years before getting back in the golf business in 2008 working at Heritage Highlands at Dove Mountain. Preston completed his PGA Apprenticeship in 24 months and prepared for his next role as General Manager at Clear Lake Country Club in Buhl, Idaho. After 4 years Preston has joined the Highlands team as the Club’s new Head Golf Professional. Preston has worked in the Golf business for over 16 years and brings a tremendous amount of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to the facility.
Preston is very proud to be joined by his wife Jessica and their two kids Natalie (3.5yrs) and Beckham (1.5yrs).

Born in Connecticut, Mike has lived in Arizona most of his life. Prior to entering the golf industry Mike worked in landscape management. Previous golf industry experience includes three years at The Westin La Paloma working as the irrigation manager and assistant superintendent. Mike began working at The Highlands in 1997 when he was hired as the assistant superintendent. Mike has served in his current role as the Golf Course Superintendent since 2007.

Scott hails from DeKalb, Illinois where he was born and raised. Scott has been working in the golf industry for more than seventeen years. He worked for ten years as an assistant superintendent at Kishwaukee CC in DeKalb prior to coming to The Highlands in 2002.

Ray was raised in the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico. He started in the golf business in 1997 while working at the Links at Continental Ranch in guest services. Ray also helped to construct and maintain the golf courses at The Gallery Golf Club from 1998 to 2006 as an Assistant Superintendent until he had an opportunity to spend three years at Tucson Country Club as the Assistant Superintendent until 2009.

A Tucson native, Joey has lived in Tucson all his life. He attended Canyon Del Oro High in Oro Valley where he graduated in 1996. Joey has worked in the golf business since 1994 when he started at the Sheraton El Conquistador. He began his career at The Highlands in November 1999 as outside services, and quickly worked his way into the golf shop, where he was promoted to Assistant Golf Professional in 2010. His other passion is music and he has played, performed and recorded with two different bands over a 20 year period. His most recent project The Living Breathing is currently promoting their first studio album. Joey and his wife Amy have been married for 9 years and have two boys AJ (9), and Rocco (5).

David Peña, PGA Apprentice Assistant Golf Professional
David is a native of Tucson and has lived here most of his life. He attended Cholla High School, Pima Community College and University of Phoenix where he majored in Business Administration / Global Management. David has worked in the golf business for more than ten years and is currently a PGA Apprentice working towards Class A membership.
Paige Gibson, Assistant Golf Professional
Paige Gibson joins The Highlands at Dove Mountain as a part-time assistant golf professional while playing professionally on The Cactus Tour. A recent transplant from Houston, Texas, Paige worked for two and a half years at a private equity facility, Lakeside Country Club. Her passion for playing competitive golf has led her to begin her next chapter here in Arizona. When Paige isn’t golfing, she will most likely be found in the gym doing Crossfit and is excited about everything outdoorsy Arizona has to offer.
Dean Avila Sr., Assistant Golf Professional
Dean was born and raised in Los Angeles then moved to Tucson in 2005. Dean has worked at The Highlands for 10 years, started with Outside Services in 2006. He also worked for Golf Course Maintenance. Dean was promoted to Golf Shop Assistant in 2008 and then again to Assistant Golf Professional in 2016.
