View Management Application Request Deadline and Schedule
The next cycle for Common Area Committee view management application review starts on November 9 with applications due November 2, 2017 for Holes 1, 2 and 3. This will be the first meeting of the CAC for the 2017-2018 season at which time this first set of applications will be reviewed for completeness. The projects will then be inspected by the committee and voted on at the December meeting. CAC meetings occur at 2PM the first Thursday of the month (except for January 2018 the meeting is the second Thursday) through May in the Tortolita Room. Applications should be turned in at the HOA office.
Important: The CAC review process is strictly for work to be completed by pre-qualified landscapers for view management and tree removal. However, if a resident wants staff to do minor trimming of trees or other vegetation, they should instead contact HOA staff to make an appointment with George Berg, who will review the request for incorporation into the normal staff property maintenance schedule.
2018 Community Budget Presentation
The final recommended budget plan will be ready for Community Presentations scheduled for November 2 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Dove Mountain Ballroom. All residents are encouraged to attend. The Board approval for the final 2018 budget is planned for the November 15 Board meeting.
The Highlands Rated Excellent by Pima County Health
The Highlands at Dove Mountain received its third straight Excellent Rating from Pima County Health Department! This is a great accomplishment - it only takes one minor infraction to not get the Excellent rating. Great job Claudette, Chef Bobby and the entire F&B Team.
New Resident Mixer
Thursday, November 9, 4-6pm, Dove Mountain Ballroom
All new residents to The Highlands (purchased in the last year or so, finally settled in, or a new renter) are welcome to join in the fun.
Wine, beer, iced tea and hors d’oeuvres are on the house! No program, just a great casual opportunity to meet other new residents. RSVP by November 3 - email the names of those attending to firstname.lastname@example.org or contact the front desk.

Busy Time Around the Pool and Spa – Spa Opening October 23
The demo work for the spa re-plastering project began on September 22. Tiles were set on September 25, with re-plastering completed on September 27. We have patiently waited for the plaster to cure over the last three to four weeks. While we have received feedback from residents regarding the timing of this closure, unfortunately the logistics of the re-plastering required us to wait until temperatures cooled. Enjoy the enhanced spa when it reopens on September 23!
The pool and spa deck was also freshly re-coated last week on Thursday and Saturday.
Just as a reminder: The Pool temperature is set at 85 degrees year round, and the Spa is set at 103 to 104 degrees (not to exceed 104 degrees).
Work Continues on PIckleball Courts
Pickleball construction is looking great and the digging phase is nearing completion. The project is at the post hole stage, and the contractor has encountered a layer of very hard rock and bedrock; it is estimated that the posts will be set by next week. While you are waiting to play on the great new courts, why not stop by the Bar and Grill and grab a bite off the new menu?
Slow Down Please…
Now that everyone is returning back from summer travels and The Highlands gets busier again, please remember to stop at stop signs and drive less than 25 MPH in the community. This includes golf cars and bicycles.
Send Guests, Contractors to Main Gate
Please remember that the Main Gate should be the main point of entrance for visitors to the community. If you are expecting guests, handymen, housekeepers, landscapers or any other service providers or deliveries, thank you for instructing them to report first to the Main Gate to avoid frustration. Navigation systems direct the general public and most all delivery drivers to the South Gate. Drivers on Dove Mountain Blvd. traveling north see first the street sign of Heritage Gateway at the South Gate and misinterpret this street as our main entrance.
Your guest or contractor will be issued a pass. If you have any questions, our security staff at the Main Gate can be reached at 579-2458. For security reasons it is very important that no vehicles (residents or contractors) attempt to ‘piggy back’ through the gate when it is open for another vehicle.
Garages Must Be Used for Vehicle Storage
As a reminder, if you plan to leave for the community for an extended period, our CCR’s Section 11.12, Vehicles D. state “no conventional passenger vehicle……may be dismantled, rebuilt, repaired, abandoned, stored, disabled, serviced or repainted on any lot outside of the lot’s garage.” Please make other provisions for storing your vehicle.

Temporary Medical Flags (Yellow)
Golfers, please return any yellow medical flags back to the golf shop. Those are temporary flags for daily use. If you are in need of a permanent medical flag, please see Preston in the golf shop. Medical flag recipients are for those who have registered and qualify under the policy rules. Assigned medical flags are RED and cost $40.
Golf Course, Putting Green and Short Game Area Closed for Overseed
Beginning Monday, September 25, these areas will be closed for seeding. The most difficult and time consuming part of seeding is preparing the seed bed. This requires scalping down and removing all that beautiful bermuda grass over 40+ acres so there is a place for the winter seed to go. This part of the process takes 3-4 days with all hands on deck. During this time, the driving range will be open, but on mats until the turf is healthy enough for us to hit off of.
Overseed Practice Range Hours
Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – Open first light
Tuesday & Thursday – Open 8am
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – Closes at dark
Monday – Closes at 5:30pm for mowing preparation
Wednesday – Closes at 4:30pm mowing preparation and desert ball removal
We need to return our Callaway Demo Clubs for credit to get the new inventory. Please return any demo clubs you have as soon as possible. Thank you!
