Crafting a lifestyle means making choices…doing things you love, learning new things, working to be fit and healthy or just meeting friends and having a great time. Our experienced and helpful Activities Director is available to assist you in maximizing your good times. Here at the Highlands… retirement is totally optional.
The very popular Highlands Hiking Club serves our community's many hikers with 20-30 monthly hikes. Tucson is ringed by mountains and blessed with a wealth of hiking opportunities. The Tortolita Mountains, practically in our backyard, offer over thirty miles of hiking trails with varying degrees of elevation and difficulty. Hiking club members have traversed the Catalina Mountains, Santa Rita Mountains, Tucson Mountains and Picacho Peak. Explore Hiking Trails.
The list ofActivities includes arts and crafts, card games, dancing, concerts, water aerobics, clogging, classes and contests. We offer bowling, clay sculpture and ceramics, Chorale, Scrabble and more. Our clubs focus on interests such as Current Issues, with both major political parities having clubs here. Game oriented clubs like Bridge, Pinochle, Poker and Mah Jongg are actively represented. For the more adventurous we offer Motorcycle, Hiking, Tennis, Photography and Adventures in Dining. The Highlands at Dove Mountain is the location of Lifelong Learning in Retirement at The Highlands (LLRH). Opportunities exist for classes, courses, field trips, in-depth discussions, socializing, which enhance the joy of learning and develop mental fitness, which are the Road Scholar Institute Network's goals.
